Siem Reap is the most popular tourist destination in Cambodia, due to the fact that it is next to the largest religious temple in the world, Angkor Wat. A breath-taking site of staggering proportions that attracts thousands of visitors each year. No trip to Siem Reap would be complete without visiting this extraordinary piece of history.
However, this is not the only string to Siem Reap´s bow. On top of the beautiful historical sites, the region is also populated with vibrant markets and other such attractions. All of which can be seen or experienced via hop-on/hop-off city tours. Or if you fancy a more wild experience, wildlife tours are also available.
A very popular part of tourism in Siem Reap is the vast selection of short classes that can be taken, such as pottery, cocktail making, photography, and many other exciting ways to fill a day.
There is no specific gay scene as such, however as with the rest of Cambodia, there is a very LGBT-friendly atmosphere. There are a number of gay establishments at which to spend an evening throughout the region, which attract tourists and locals alike.
A very popular destination is Pub Street, which is flanked by many bars and restaurants, providing visitors with a lively and entertaining night out in a friendly atmosphere. It is also a short walk from the night market, should you feel the urge to do some bargain hunting.
Siem Reap is easy to navigate by foot, however there are also a number of taxis and Tuk Tuks which will be happy to drop you wherever you may need to go. And they are a great way to experience a little slice of culture as you travel from A to B.
